Cowboys & Indians...and Aliens? Part 1

Our favorite friends Heath & Jen recently invited us to San Diego with them. The catch? We had to attend the Cowboys & Aliens premiere with them. Rough life we all lead...
The weekend was jam-packed and we definitely were the winners of the weekend. Our first stop upon landing in LAX was at The Montage Hotel & Spa. I've learned this might be Heath's favorite spot on earth (Did you know there are only 2 five star spa's in the country? The Montage is one, and the other is the Meridian in NYC).

From the Montage we drove down to San Diego, checking out the GI Joe's along the road in Camp Pendleton. We even got to see one of those cool helicopters that turns into a plane aircrafts. We woke up early Friday morning (some earlier than others thanks to the time change) and hit the beach for a personal surf lesson from who Heath thinks is Gnarly Neal, but who Kerri swears was named Steve. Either way, he called both girls "Jen", so I'm pretty sure no one was insulted. Everyone did their fair share of wiping out, but we each caught a few waves.

From there, since we burned so many calories fighting the waves, we decided to reward ourselves with a little snack from a local Mexican restaurant. Nothing huge, just a little taste...

BBQ: Not just for The South

One of the best weekends in New York City is when the Big Apple BBQ Fest comes rolling in. This may have been the 4th or 5th time we've gone to it and it just gets better each time. The weekend officially starts when our buddies from Jim n' Nick's roll in and start smoking sausage links and doesn't end until the vats of pimento cheese are gone.
A few of the delicious dishes from this year's event:
A new addition this year: Fried Pies from The Original Fried Pie Shop. The blackberry one will rock your world.
BBQ Fast Pass and a McAlister's sweet tea. Nothing more NYC Southern.
