Easter

Just a few pictures from Sloan's first Easter.

All dressed and ready to go!
She's become a really good sitter lately.

Not everyone can say they had an Oscar winner read during their Easter service.
Her eyes are a mix of colors - some blue remains, but you can see green and brown depending on where and how you look at them.

A few more for good measure -

Blue Steel

When we were in Atlanta over Christmas, we set up a special photoshoot with Sloan. We enlisted the help of a sorority sister that runs Dylan Blue Photography. For anyone that is looking for a special event photographer in the area, Abby comes highly recommended. I think the pictures speak for themselves!!
You can see them all here: http://www.dylanbluephotography.com/nothing-to-do-but-smile/

Thank you Abby!!

Lucky

We had an afternoon of St Patrick's Day celebrations with some friends from my NYU Mom's group. Our host Anna is one heck of a picture taker!

This is what you find at the end of a rainbow!

Baptism

Shortly after her six month birthday, Sloan had another big celebration - her baptism!

I was really nervous because she usually takes her second nap around 11:30 a.m. We took her to church with us the week before to see how she would do, and while she well behaved most of the time, she had a mini meltdown towards the end of the sermon...which is exactly when the baptism ceremony takes place! So of course, being the new mom that I am, I had a whole plan to help make it go off without a hitch: She would take her morning nap already dressed, sleep all the way up until we had to leave for church (later than usual), and then we'd feed her at the service. Well, wouldn't you know...THE PLAN TOTALLY BLEW UP!! She knew something was up - she woke up early, we had to feed her early, and she only took a quick 10 minute nap on the way to church.

Before the service - not so sure what's going on!
If you look closely you can see a small baby ring on Sloan's left wrist. It was from my paternal grandmother - the one who Sloan got her middle name from.

Well, Barry pretty much saved the day. He was so great with her during the service and only had to take her outside a brief moment. By the time we were called to the front, she saw one smiling face...and she lit up the whole church with all sorts of smiles. The  Pastor baptized her and she was so patient and lovely the whole time. He joked that he "wasn't giving her back", and held her as he walked up and down the aisle addressing the congregation about their role in the baptism. It was a really special moment.

A Child of - and from - God
What made the weekend even better is that my parents were able to attend too. They came in town to watch Sloan while Barry and I went to Colorado with friends (post to come shortly!). We left town shortly after the service so we did not have the typical after-service celebration, but we really appreciated those that were able to come join us!

A few more pictures from her special day

Six Months

Can you believe it's been 6 months since this cutie was born?!! Sloan celebrated her half birthday on February 15, 2012.

At her six month appointment, she weighed 11lbs, 15oz. and measured 23 3/4 inches. She is eating 5oz. bottles, 5 times a day. It is still all breast milk which is a challenge in and of itself. Sloan is a great sleeper and sleeps consistently from 8pm to 7am, with three naps a day. Sometimes she'll wake up 30-45 minutes early in the morning, and will just talk to herself in the crib. Talk, Talk, Talk! Sloan loves her feet, her thumb, the playmat and we finally broke out Sophie the Giraffe - it is a huge hit! We're getting real giggles every once in a while, and she is a curious little thing. Loves to stand up and look around...basically at anything other than what you want her to look at!

Our newest challenge is rice cereal. We aren't sure how much she is actually eating, but we're trying!

All over my face!

I want everything but the cereal in my mouth!

Just another weekend

Last weekend was a pretty fun filled weekend for us, so I thought I would post a few pictures from it.

First up, it was my first Friday working from home without Barry there as well. I'm not going to lie, it was really, really hard. I had 4 conference calls - most of which I had to stay on mute bc Sloan was noisy - and a ton of emails to send out. She is a great napper, but nobody can sleep the day away!

Sloanie Bear helping me with my work early a.m.
I took this  picture mostly to show off the crab butt in her PJs.

Tummy time in the mirror

Our new Bumbo seat!
(I originally bought a different brand of seat, but she is too tiny for it)

Later that evening Cousin Emily came over to babysit Sloan so we could go to a Cowboy Mouth concert. Cowboy Mouth is a crazy band whose lead singer is also the drummer. He puts on quite a show. Everybody brings plastic red spoons to the show and throws them at the drummer/singer during one of his songs.

Saturday was full of errands, but a few pictures into our world:

Lounging with Dad

We dressed her like a biker chick. Her socks say "Dad" on the hearts

Hey Warby, that's my chair!!

Sunday was super fun for us. We had a reunion with all of the moms/babies from our New Mom Group.

Getting ready in the morning. Collar popped!
The whole crew L-R:
Kerri/Sloan, Emma/Vivian, Sam/Oli, Anna/Lulu, Suzette/Lucia, Thao/Ava

Baby Flower!
You wouldn't know it here, but Sloan is the third oldest. Only Ava, to her left, and Lulu, directly across from her, are older.

That wasn't the best part of the day though, this was:
